Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center

Located just 15 minutes from Denver International Airport, the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center in Aurora delivers big on fun all in one impressive place. Here you can relax by the Rocky Mountain foothills at a sprawling resort boasting its own wild water park.

Amenities abound at this five-star resort where guests can choose between five on-site dining options and a multitude of activities no matter the season. Whether you are in pursuit of a soothing spa experience, drifting down the lazy river soaking up sun or around-the-clock family activities, the Gaylord Rockies Resort guarantees a vacation headspace.

What makes it special?

We’re going with the diversity of family options at this spot. Movie night, escape rooms, scavenger hunts, cookie decorating and painting classes are just some of the indoorsy things to do. Outdoor options are plentiful, too. Families will love the year-round water fun with heated resort-style pools, three water slides, cabanas, plus basketball and tennis courts. Wintertime guests can add ice-bumper cars and Gaylord’s spectacular indoors-and-out holiday decorations to their long list of family-friendly to-dos. After a full day of fun, some rooms include bunkbeds that are perfect for kiddos.

The most Colorado thing about this place

It’s all the Colorado sunshine you’ll be soaking up at the water park — after applying sunscreen of course. In summer, zip down winding water slides that mimic the state’s sandstone canyons or float solo between refreshing waterspouts and a trickling waterfall on the lazy river. In cooler weather, you’ll love practicing your backstroke in the heated outdoor pool and breathing in the crisp fresh air from the warmth of the hot tubs.

Coolest amenity

Now here’s a cool treat: Try roasting marshmallows at sunset around a personal campfire to make melt-in-your-mouth s’mores.

Our favorite traveler review

“I've always wanted to try to stay at a Gaylord Resort. Trust me, this place will not disappoint. The theming of this property was set to the roots of Colorado. First off, the service is top of the game. Every interaction with a staff member was a positive one and showed what customer service really means. I came with my family on a business trip, and we all had a great time. The pool area was like an amusement park. Lazy rivers, water slides, heated pools and hot tubs — they had it all. The food at every restaurant on property was really, really good. I stayed six days so I had time to try them all. I can't recommend this place enough and I hope to stay at another of the many Gaylord resorts around the U.S. in the near future. — Jason C., Yelp
