Sheltered in a rocky crevasse, the secluded 25-foot Zapata Falls are an impressive sight to behold. Access the falls by turning off Highway 150 and following the signs to the parking area, where the views of the Great Sand Dunes and surrounding valley are rewarding on their own. There are also 4 miles of hiking and biking trails below the parking area. For an otherworldly look at the falls, check them out in winter when they freeze into a sculpture of ice.
